I have a customer that changes his every month, but he owns his own garage? You only NEED to change them (according to smartusa) once a year, or every 10,000 miles (whichever comes first).

Cars don't need to have oil changed that often. Now they suggest 5k or 7.5k for oil change intervals but even that is probably too often for most drivers especially with synthetic oils. It looks to me that the oil change is recommended at 10,000 miles and 15,000 miles. The dealer says to change it every 2500. My 03 Accord doesn't have the oil monitor, Honda writes in the next service on the tag in the windshield.
